Gran Canaria’s Top Model
29/06/2009 - The architect’s model for the new Anfi Tauro Golf & Luxury Resorts is believed to be the biggest the island has seen.
On display in the Anfi Emerald Club, the scale model took a team of three people four months to build and measures over 5 metres long and nearly 4 metres wide. Carlos Medina, director of “Maquetas Carlos Medina”- the company who built the model said: “It was an honour and privilege to undertake this project… it is like an entire city”.
Anfi Tauro is one of the most challenging projects the island has seen in recent years and will comprise of top quality hotels, golf courses, luxury villas, a five hundred-berth marina and a vibrant commercial centre. All of these infrastructures will be linked by innovative sports and health circuits, which will run from the beach area upwards into the mountains.
Luis Martínez San Andrés, General Director of Anfi Tauro, commented: “This development will help address the noted shortfall of quality holiday and freehold accommodation in the south of the island and will provide a huge boost to the local economy by creating an estimated 3000 jobs.”
Maintaining harmony with the environment has been paramount. Excavated pebbles and stone have been used in the construction and decorative external finishings. Indigenous flora and fauna have been introduced to the gardens and lakes whilst desalinated seawater is used throughout the resort.
