Anfi Tauro golf championship golf course - pro tips

Hole 1
A fairly straightforward opening hole. The fairway slopes from right to left, so aim at the large bunker on the right.

Hole 2
The longest hole on the course and one that needs to be played carefully. Don’t try and take off too much of the dogleg on your second shot. The green is very subtle; take your time reading your putt.

Hole 3
The flag position on this excellent par 3 can determine how you play the hole. If the flag is on the left, then play safe to the right side, if however, the flag is to the right then go for it.

Hole 4
A high teeing area gives a full view of this dogleg right par 4. Again, as with the second hole, don't try and take off too much of the corner. Aim the second shot to the left part of the green as it slopes quite sharply from left to right.

Hole 5
A straight away par 4, fairly uphill towards a very sloping green from back to front. Try and leave your approach shot below the hole.

Hole 6
A superb par three with a very large green. Depending on the flag position and the prevailing breeze, club selection could vary 3 to 4 clubs. Always take more clubs than you think you'll need.

Hole 7
A tough par 4 with a large lake to the left of the fairway and green. A conservative second shot to the right of the green leaves a fairly simple chip for par. Long hitters may want to leave their drivers in the bag on this hole.

Hole 8
The shortest par four with the green cut into the mountain, therefore you have rocks on three sides of the green. Play your approach with care.

Hole 9
Super par five to finish the first nine with water on the left side of the fairway and green. Play safe to the right with your second shot to give yourself a chance of a birdie.

Hole 10
Quite a narrow par 4 with bunkers on both sides of the fairway. Try and leave your approach shot below the hole otherwise you could be left with a very difficult putt.

Hole 11
Fantastic looking par three. The danger here is that the green is only half as big as it looks. Tough tee shot, try and aim for the middle of the green.

Hole 12
Straight uphill par 5, play it as a good three shotter up the left hand side of the fairway.

Hole 13
Another superb par three built into the side of a mountain. Don’t miss the green short, long, left or right.

Hole 14
Magnificent views from this elevated tee. Again water on the left of the fairway and green. a severely sloping fairway best suits a low running tee shot. This hole gives the longer player a great chance at reaching the green in two.

Hole 15
The last of the par threes with three levels on the green, as with a lot of the greens try and leave your tee shot below the hole.

Hole 16
A short dogleg to the right. Play away from the bunker on the right and make sure your second shot reaches the green if not, it will roll back to your feet.

Hole 17
A par 4 with a narrow fairway. Accuracy off the tee rather than length is vital. A tough little hole, leaving this hole with a par is very satisfying.

Hole 18
Good finishing hole, aim at the bunker with a small draw and your chances to reach the green in two increases. However, the lake in front of the green is full of golf balls from people who tried and failed.
